COOROY, QUEENSLAND


'Cooroy' is a town in Queensland, Australia . It lies in the hinterland of Noosa Shire, 20 kilometres from Noosa Heads. Cooroy's name came from Cooroy Mountain, which was originally called Coorooey, from the Aboriginal word for possum, ''kurui''.[2]
Cooroy has an attractive heritage-focused town centre but modernised as well. Cooroy has one hotel, a Golf Club, a Bowls Club and the RSL Club. The Cooroy Motel is 3 star accommodation situated directly opposite the Railway Station. Noosa Botanical Garden is situated on Lake MacDonald just outside of the town. Also in town is the Noosa District High School and Cooroy State Primary School. Cooroy has a Badminton Club, a Showground, several netball courts, two organic and green grocers and an award-winning cafe.
