What Does Conservatism Mean?
Without a doubt Ronald Reagan was one of the most prolific spokesmen for conservatism in our lifetime and beyond. With that he defined a movement, a grassroots coalition stretching from one end of the nation to another, helping to define what it meant to be a conservative. This is meant to hear what he has to say about key issues that we are facing, that we are talking about today as we seek to once more reclaim our strong conservative heritage in a changing world.

Reclaiming Conservatism (Part One)
Amongst the political discussions and debates of our day comes the thought by some out there who believe that the cause of conservatism is no longer relevant within a progressive society. We are told by these people to abandon our principles for nothing is to be gained by them, as if to say they do not matter or they should not matter. This is a discussion of the conservative movement, what it means as we enter into a discourse about how we are to combat that school of thought. It is a discussion of who we are, what we believe in and the unity that we must have to carry us forward based on those best principles that we hold dear. We will not just fade away but rather we will rise and show that great principles and ideals do not die from one generation to the next but that they are there to be uplifted and in that uplift us.

Brian Doherty - Conservatism vs. Libertarianism
Complete video at: http://fora.tv/fora/showthread.php?t=913 Reason Magazine Senior Editor Brian Doherty discusses the differences between libertarianism and traditional conservative ideologies. ----- Brian Doherty considers "Radicals for Capitalism: A Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement." This illuminating, lively history of a political movement on the rise - told through the life stories of its standard bearers - casts new light on the intellectual and political history of post-WWII America. Doherty traces the evolution of libertarianism through the unconventional stories of Ludwig von Mises, F.A. Hayek, Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard, and Milton Friedman, and their personal battles, character flaws, love affairs, and historical events that altered its course. In so doing, he provides a fascinating new perspective on American history, from the New Deal through the culture wars of the 1060s to today's divisiveness. In February, the Wall Street Journal noted, "With 'Radicals for Capitalism', Brian Doherty finally gives libertarianism its due...Mr. Doherty has rescued libertarianism from its own obscurity, eloquently capturing the appeal of the 'pure idea', its origins in great minds and the feistiness of its many current champions." - Cody's Books Brian Doherty is a senior editor of Reason, the libertarian monthly named one of "The 50 Best Magazines" three out of the past four years by the Chicago Tribune. Established in 1968 and a four-time finalist for National Magazine Awards, Reason has a print circulation of 40,000 and won the 2005 Western Publications Association "MAGGIE" Award for best political magazine.
