CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
The 'Connecticut Department of Transportation' (ConnDOT) is responsible for the development and operation of highways, railroads, mass transit systems, ports, waterways and aviation facilities in the U.S. state of Connecticut.
ConnDOT's duties include:
★ The state and local highway system including the maintnence of road signs in towns throughout the state which elect not to maintain their own.
★ The management of the state's railroads, including funding of some trains on the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line and whole operations of the Shore Line East system between New Haven and New London. For the latter, ConnDOT carries the AAR reporting mark 'CNDX'.
★ Oversight of Connecticut Transit, a provider of bus transit in much of the state, and of the New Haven Line and Shore Line East.
★ Management and operations of most of the state's ports along Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.
★ Management of Bradley International Airport.
