CONCORDIA (ALPS)
'Concordia' or 'Konkordiaplatz' is the name of an important glacial confluence in the Bernese Oberland, one of the highest sections of the Swiss Alps. At Concordia, the Aletschfirn, the Jungfraufirn, and the Ewigschneefäld, flowing from various high peaks of the Oberland, join to form the Aletschgletscher, or Aletsch Glacier, one of the most important glaciers of the Alps.
Surrounding Concordia are peaks such as the Jungfrau, the Eiger, the Mönch, the Aletschhorn, and the Finsteraarhorn.
A similar location in Pakistan, on the Baltoro Glacier, was named after this one.
