It uses a slick web 2.0 layout and the visual results make it easier to find more related content without searching through page after page of Google results. http://www.freelinereport.com/freeline-2-14-08/ Prototypes of phones using Google's Android (also known as the gPhone) operating system have been making their rounds, and wowing the people lucky enough to get one. With the backing of big cellphone manufacturers like Texas Instruments, Wind River and Qualcomm the Android is already considered a success. http://www.freelinereport.com/freeline-2-14-08/ We also have a list of the top four YouTube tools you can't live without. All of the items on the list are free to use and download, and can really enhance viewing any video you find online. http://www.freelinereport.com/freeline-2-14-08/ Office Live just expanded its Small Business web hosting offers to compete with Yahoo's recent changes to its own Small Business web hosting. Haegue Yang | CI08 Life on Mars
Born: 1971, Seoul, South Korea Lives and Works: Berlin and Seoul Haegue Yang's art resists a defining medium, engaging instead with a range of means, from wall drawing to books, sculpture, installation, moving image, and photography. The oblique self-analysis that Yang uses as both strategy and substance in her "placeless" art is symptomatic of someone who has lived for many years outside of her native country and whose life and work entail the high-mobility and in-transit condition common to many contemporary artists operating internationally. This acute sense of provisional belonging--being at home in what is foreign and feeling foreign in what is home--lends Yang's work a hair-trigger sensitivity for the inflections of quotidian experience as well as public and private territories. She has described her practice in terms of a poetic activism. Three Kinds (2008) employs commonplace objects such as venetian blinds, lights, and mirrors to create an atmosphere of dramatic intimacy. Though the specific point of conceptual departure remains obscured--Yang relates this and similar installations to abstract portraits of various individuals from Asian and European history--the interaction of the elements might be seen as a stand-in for human relations. --- Life on Mars, the 2008 Carnegie International Widely known as one of the pre-eminent international surveys of contemporary art in the world, the Carnegie International was founded at the behest of industrialist Andrew Carnegie in 1896. With the Venice Biennale, the Carnegie International is the oldest such exhibition in the world. Titled "Life on Mars", the 2008 Carnegie International will focus on the increasingly relevant question of what it means to be human in the world today. The exhibition presents work by 40 artists who investigate particular aspects of the human condition, moving along paths that are both introspective and worldly while poetically traversing the dramatic spectrum from tragedy to comedy.
Part 1/5: An Introduction to BLOB Streaming for MySQL
MySQL Conference and Expo 2008: Paul McCullagh "An Introduction to BLOB Streaming for MySQL Project" Abstract: The goal of the BLOB Streaming project for MySQL is to provide a scalable, stream-based, infrastructure for the storage and retrieval of pictures, films, MP3 files and other binary and text objects (BLOBs) to and from the database. The first step has been taken with the creation of the BLOB Streaming engine for MySQL, a storage engine that allows BLOB data to be uploaded and downloaded directly to and from a MySQL table, using the standard HTTP protocol. This session explains why BLOB streaming may be relevant to your project, how it all works, and how you can get started. Also covered by this session are: system design, replication and backup of BLOBs, performance and plans for a distributed BLOB repository. About Paul McCullagh and PrimeBase Technologies GmbH: Paul McCullagh is cofounder of SNAP Innovation GmbH, Germany, where he is responsible for core technology. He has 17 years experience in the development of database and internet related systems. Paul has a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town where he specialized in operating system design and implementation. Paul is the developer of the PBXT transactional storage engine for MySQL (www.primebase.com/xt). Most recently his work has included the development of the BLOB streaming engine for MySQL (www.blobstreaming.org).
Madeleine ~ Be Brave Little One
http://findmadeleine.com Anyone with information is urged to contact The family investigation hotline on +44 845 8384699 or email investigation@findmadeleine.com. CRIMESTOPPERS - 0044 1883 731 336 Message from Gerry and Kate Gerry and Kate would like to thank all those who have taken the trouble to call or email with support and information. We have been taken aback by the level of your response. Thank you, it means so much to us. If you haven't had a response yet, please don't worry -- someone from the team will be in touch shortly. If you gave a statement to anyone during the course of the investigation into Madeleine's abduction, we'd be really grateful if you could contact us so that we can follow up every last piece of information. Day 407: 13/06/2008 First of all apologies for the long gap since my last blog. We are still very busy and the last 2 weeks all four of us have been laid low with a viral illness. Our investigative team have been very busy working through all the information which has been coming in through the new hotline number and the e-mail addresses -- see investigation page. A lot of this information is undoubtedly relevant to the investigation and every piece of information will be followed up- a very time consuming process -- so please be patient with us! We are planning a facility to allow the upload of pictures of people who were in the Algarve leading up to Madeleine's abduction. In the interim pictures can be e-mailed to investigation@findmadeleine.com The campaign for a Europe wide Amber alert continues. There is approximately one month left to get the majority of MEP's to sign the written declaration. Edward McMillan- Scott has told us that so far there are 211 signatures therefore we need another 182. Thank you to everyone who has written to MEP's. Some of the responses that have been sent display a complete lack of understanding in what we hope to achieve. For example some have said they will not sign because such a system is already in place with the 116 000 hotline number. Firstly this number for missing children is only operational in one out of 27 European countries (Greece) so far. Secondly the number does not mean an Amber alert will be issued for an abducted child as no such system exists- hence the written declaration. Thirdly we are looking for cross border cooperation between member states when a child is abducted. Hopefully with more lobbying, we can get the declaration accepted. We are continually looking to improve the website. Over the next few weeks you should notice some changes. We are planning to have new messages on the home page from Kate and myself. The blog may change to a findmadeleine update, there will be new pages displaying the posters in full and further details of local fundraising events. With the holiday season approaching, we would be really grateful if people would once again download Madeleine posters from the website (available in many different languages in how to help/downloads section) and take them with them for distribution and display. 1 in 6 children are recovered after someone has recognised them from a poster! Finally, we would like to say thank you to everyone for their continued help and kindness, the many letters, messages of support and prayers. It is reassuring and uplifting that Madeleine is in so many people's thoughts and prayers even at this stage. http://dontletthemhurtourchildren.blogspot.com http://pickupthephoneandbringmadeleinehome.blogspot.com
