COLLOQUIUM

(Redirected from Colloquia)
:''You may also be looking for Parliament of Scotland, called a "colloquium" in Latin records.''
A 'colloquium' is an important type of academic activity. Typically, a colloquium will consist of a single lecture given by a member of the academic community about his or her work, to colleagues who work in the same or an allied field. The audience is expected to ask questions and to evaluate the work presented. Colloquia help to provide scholars with the opportunity to face and respond to criticism in the early stages of the development of new ideas.
In legal parlance, 'colloquium' is used when the identity of a plaintiff in a defamation suit is not expressly stated, but people know who the tortfeasor was attempting to defame.
