'Colin Carr' (b. ????) is an
American cello soloist,
chamber musician,
recording artist and
teacher.
A distinguished professor of cello currently at the
Royal Academy of Music. Carr taught at the
New England Conservatory in
Boston for 16 years before taking up his current job at the Royal Academy of Music. In addition, he is also affiliated with the
State University of New York at Stony Brook. He took second place in the international
Rostropovich Cello Competition. Carr began playing at the age of five, and studied with
Maurice Gendron. He also attended the Yehudi Menuhin School. He now plays on the 'Marquis de Coboron'
Stradivari cello, formerly played by
Zara Nelsova, and owned by the
Royal Academy of Music. He lives with his wife and two children in a 17th century restored farmhouse outside of Oxford, England.
