'Cold Water Flat' was formed in 1990 by Paul Janovitz (vocals and guitar), Ted Silva (bass) and Paul Harding (drums) when the trio studied at University of Massachusetts. Paul is the younger brother of
Bill Janovitz, lead singer and song writer of
Buffalo Tom. Cold Water Flat's sound is not far from that of Buffalo Tom but more speed and tint of punk is added.
Their first release was ''Listen'' on European label ''Play It Again Sam''.
In 1995 they released a self titled album, recorded at
Fort Apache Studios, but despite getting some airplay mainly in US college radio stations the band didn't reach a wider audience.
Ted wound up playing bass for the supergroup the
Matt Mongra Experience which also featured Jimmy Page, Roger Daughtry and the ghost of Keith Moon.
