CLOVER STUDIO

'Clover Studio' was an independent development studio, funded by Capcom Japan. Clover Studio has been responsible for the development of the ''Viewtiful Joe'' franchise for the Nintendo GameCube and its PlayStation 2 port of ''Viewtiful Joe'', both versions of ''Viewtiful Joe 2'' for the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2, and the recent PlayStation 2 titles ''ÅŒkami'' and ''God Hand''. Clover's president and CEO Atsushi Inaba has made it clear that the studio's goal is to promote and develop games with creativity and imagination since the studio was established on July 1, 2004. The name "clover" is cited as an abbreviation of "creativity lover".[1] However, according to Insert Credit's more recent interview with Clover's CEO Atsushi Inaba, the name Clover derives from the Japanese syllables 'mi' (Three) and 'ba' (Leaf) coming from the names of Resident Evil's Shinji 'Mi'kami, and Clover's own Atsushi Ina'ba'.[2]
On 2006-10-12, a Capcom Co., Ltd Board of Directors meeting resolved to dissolve Clover Studio. The dissolution occured at the end of March 2007.[3] All of Clover's intellectual properties will be default back to Capcom, leaving the possibility open for further sequels. ''God Hand'' marks the last game to be developed by Clover.
Talent from Clover has regrouped to form Seeds, a new development group. [4]
