CLARENCE, ONTARIO

''This article is about the community. For the former township, see Clarence Township, Ontario''
'Clarence, Ontario', is the name of a hamlet in the amalgamated city of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the mouth of the Clarence Creek, on the Ottawa River.
Clarence Township was a township that was merged with the village of Rockland in 1998. Clarence Township included a vast rural area that included the Larose Forest.
Clarence is well known for its local water, which is extremely high in sulfur content and emits a nauseating odor. Swimmers in the Clarence Creek often need days or even weeks to get the skunk-like stinkiness of the water off of their bodies.
Clarence Creek is also home to local celebrity Jeff Cober, one of the men who helped found the region in 1986. Cober is well known for running through the streets of Clarence, often screaming at the top of his lungs. He usually leaves a small trail of the filters from his native smokes, so the locals can track him down anytime.
