'Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center' is a 250-bed children's hospital in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. It was founded as the seven-bed Children's Orthopedic Hospital in 1907 by Anna Herr Clise and was originally a ward of Seattle General Hospital. It moved to Queen Anne Hill the next year.
In 1953, Children's moved to a new campus in Laurelhurst. Today, it is the home of the University of Washington's Department of Pediatrics. In 2006, ''U.S. News and World Report'' named it the #12 children's hospital in the country. In 2007, ''Child Magazine'' ranked it as the #15 children's hospital overall and #9 for cancer care.
Its pediatric oncology program is among the top three, and its pediatric residency program is ranked sixth. Children's serves as the pediatric referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho-the largest geographic region of any children's hospital in the country.
