'Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal' is the most senior judge in the court system in Hong Kong.
Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal is a position second only to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Precedence list. The currently Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of HKSAR is Andrew Li Kwok-nang
The role replaces the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong and the role of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
The CFA is headed by the Chief Justice and comprises three permanent judges and a panel of non-permanent judges. In hearing and determining an appeal, the Court will consist of five judges, and the Court may, as required, invite a nonpermanent
Hong Kong judge or a non-permanent judge from another common law jurisdiction to sit on the Court.
As at 1 November 2006, there were six non-permanent Hong Kong judges and ten non-permanent judges from other common law jurisdictions.
The Chief Justice should be the President of the CFA. Where he is not available to hear an appeal for any cause, he shall designate a Permanent Judge to sit in his place and be the President.
