CHATTER MARK


A 'Chatter mark' is one or, more commonly, a series of marks left on basal rocks which have been glaciated where a stone or boulder has been dragged by the ice over the basal rocks leaving a more or less crescent shaped gouge as it contacted and then released as it was dragged onwards.
