'Chascomús', is the principal
city in
Chascomús Partido in eastern
Buenos Aires Province in eastern
Argentina, located about 123km south of the capital
Buenos Aires. As of 2001, the city had a
population of 35,174 people.
History
The city was founded on 30
May 1779 by
Pedro Nicolás Escribano.
In
1839 there was a
rebellion and
battle called the
Libres del Sur
In
1873 Chascomús became a city and department.
People
Argentinian
president Raúl Ricardo Alfonsín was born in the city.
