CHANGLE

'Changle'(长乐) is a county-level city located in east Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. Administered by Fuzhou city, Changle occupies a land area of 648 square kilometers and a sea area of 1327 square kilometers. Established in the sixth year of Emperor Wu-De(623 AD) during the Tang Dynasty, and Changle became a county on February 18, 1994. Changle faces Taiwan across Taiwan Strait and is connected to Mawei Economic and Technological Zone by Minjiang River. Changle might be upgraded to be "Changle District of Fuzhou" in a government proposal.
Located just 30 kilometers outside of urban of Fuzhou, Changle has a total population of 680,000 and the number of overseas Chinese has reached 400,000 in recent years. Most people can speak both Mandarin Chinese and Fuzhou dialect, but Mandarin is spoken in more formal settings such as schools.
One of the well known Changle native is shie wan yin(谢婉莹), whose pen name is Bing Xin(冰心),known as "The Grandma in Chinese Literacy Circle". Changle is the ancestral home of Zheng Zhenduo, a master of literature.
Some of the tourist attractions includes Xiasha Seaside Vocational Center, Jingang-washing foot, BingXing Literacy Archieves, and Nanshan Park.
Changle has an airport in Zhanggang town. Fuzhou Changle International Airport has regular scheduled flights to many domestic and international destinations.
Many Changleners immigrated to the United States, Canada, and other countries to find jobs. About 60% of the Chinese immigrants in New York City are Changleners. In early year, Changlener immigrate illegally by means of boat, air plane and then declared the refugee status immediately after landing. This was a huge business in Changle. Nowadays, thanks to those who immigrate to those countries earlier, people who want to immigrate usually can marry to those who has green card from the U.S. or other legal status from other countries.
Most Changleners can speak both Mandarin and a variant of the Fuzhou dialect. ("Chanlener") In school, everything is taught in Madarin. However, children's parent might still speak Changlener. Old Chanleners' Mandarin has a very strong accent because the Chanler's dialect does not distinguish between z, zh, ci ,chi, si, shi.
The Changlener/Fuzhou dialect (Changle/Fuzhou Hua-长乐/福州话) is going to be disappeared because of Chinese government's policy on Mandarin. This should consider tragic in a sense because that Changleners are losing their identities.
The majority of the young generation who born between 75s to 85s are usually listen to HK pop, or Taiwan pop. They actually consider music from inner China are outdated and funny.
