Top Four Endangered Landmarks Massena New York 2007
this massena movie features the top four endangered landmarks from my viewpoints. they include: --NUMBER FOUR: MASSENA'S CEMETERIES - THREE IN TERRIBLE CONDITION THAT CAN BE RESTORED AND LOOK LIKE EYESORES DUE TO NEGLECT. --NUMBER THREE: THE OLD BUR OAK TREE IN DOWNTOWN MASSENA PLANTED AROUND 1850. --NUMBER TWO: THE SMITH HOUSE THAT WAS JUST CONDEMNED BY THE VILLAGE. CONSTUCTED IN 1822 AND MASSENA'S LAST REMAINING HOTEL FROM THE MINERAL SPRINGS ERA. SITE OF THE FORMER MASSENA SPRINGS TAVERN. --NUMBER ONE: THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MASSENA. NOW UP FOR SALE AND IN GRAVE DANGER OF BEING BOUGHT BY A CHAIN STORE FRANCHISE. FIRST CHURCH SERVICES IN 1860. CORNERSTONE 1859. --Massena's past leaders and the individuals with money that run the community love to demolish or never properly take care of historical sites. Not a single landmark in massena is on the national registar of historical places. WHAT A SHAME!! TIME TO WAKE UP MASSENA PEOPLE! nobody seems to care about our treasures that are now rapidly disappearing. In the last year, massena has seen a huge change in character. corporations that run chain stores are starting to overlaod the town. we have enough walmarts, walgreens, kinney drugs, rite aids, and dollar stores now! We also have alot of empty commercial spaces in massena that can be easily fixed up for new business. why destoy when you can renovate and preserve? why bullt a new building when you renovate an old one? it can cost just as much to demolished a structure as to renovating it! Just travel to other nearby communities and you will see character in the homes and old buildings that massena no longer sees. only sixth structures are still existing that I know of before the year 1860. --The massena first baptist church is in grave danger at this time. PLEASE IF ANYBODY OUT THERE WITH LOTS OF MONEY WHO CARES ABOUT PRESERVATION BUY THE CHURCH --EVEN IF YOU LIVE IN CALIFORNIA!! THEN AS A TAX RIGHT OFF DONATE IT BACK TO THE COMMUNITY FOR A NEW MUSEUM! WE NEED A BETTER AND BIGGER LOCATION FOR THE MASSENA MUSEUM.
Why is Sugarhouse being traded for a mall and condos?
What many consider the heart and soul of Sugarhouse will be demolished and rebuilt adding condos and more attractive retail space; which may end up substituting local culture and charm for chain stores and yuppies. Visit UtahStories.com for more.
