CAPITAL DISTRICT, NOVA SCOTIA

Capital District in relation to the remainder of the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The 'Capital District' was created by Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia in 2002. The district was created to focus on improving services in the downtown areas of the municipality including the downtown of peninsula Halifax, the downtown area of Dartmouth, and the business districts of Spring Garden Road, Quinpool Road, and Gottingen Street.
Capital District Task Force Members include representation from across the regional government's departments and agencies: Fire & Emergency Services, Library Services, Halifax Regional Police, Right of Way Services, Transportation & Public Works, Planning & Development, Community Response, Community Culture & Economic Development, Bylaw Enforcement, Urban Forestry, Real Property Planning, Financial Services
The Task Force also includes members outside stakeholders such as the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission, Downtown Halifax Business Commission, Spring Garden Area Business Association, Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association Limited, Waterfront Development Corporation Limited.
