This Municipal Openness Test-1 is so easy. Just walk into any municipal council, set up a tripod and video camera (I had two going) and hit RECORD. *** That's precisely what The Mississauga Muse did Friday, January 25, 2008 inside Maui County Council Chambers. (And I did this wearing my CANADA cap to drop down a hint to this American council that I might be a foreign national.) Get this. One Maui Council Staffer saw me and smiled. Smiled! During a long break another Council Staff came up to me and we talked story. He asked why I was videotaping --not in a challenging way, understand, just curious. Well, I told him about my own experiences with Ontario municipalities, about Mississauga Council and their video surveillance and security guards, about Caledon Council and how they denied me use of their images during their deliberations on "Accountability and Transparency" no less. The Maui Staffer seemed to enjoy talking to me. I told him how I met BIG BROTHER face-to-face and how I now LOATHE Him. He grinned and said, "Big Brother... I haven't heard that in a while." And he said that we're of the same generation, same books, "1984", "Animal Farm", "Brave New World"... and us having read those three books saved hours of discussion. We understood. I told him not to think that Ontario was all municipal evil empires. I told him about Fort Erie Council and the Region of Niagara. I explained my frustration in not being able to fully report on Maui Council's openness. Or Fort Erie's either. I explained it would be irresponsible of me to post such details to the Internet. That the very act of Maui and Fort Erie's openness also makes them vulnerable to malicious abuse. The Maui Staffer told me that he never thought of it quite like that before. And I said it's already my experience that open muncipal councils are not only rare in Ontario but are much like endangered species. I told him that I now feel protective of Maui Council and Fort Erie Council. And The Staffer found that a revelation --that I felt "protective". I told him not only do I feel protective but I cherish openness --that was the word, "cherish". That open councils are "treasures" and... well, I can't tell you what the Staffer said, because I'm protective of open councils. By their nature, open councils are fragile things --vulnerable to abuse. I suspect that the greatest source of abuse likely comes from their evil-empire neighbouring municipalities! I felt at home inside Maui Council chambers. There was a civility there totally lacking inside Mississauga Council chambers. For one thing, when one person talked (be that officials/staff or citizen-presenters), everyone else's mouth was closed and listening. RESPECT.  | Presidential Candidates For North American Union The following video exposes the North American Union and the Council on Foreign Relations involvement. Our world is about to change... This past August, the presidents of Mexico, Canada and the U.S., met to discuss The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America. You may ask yourself why you've never heard of it... The goal of this "partnership" is to integrate these countries economically and politically, with plans to mint a new universal currency called the "Amero". In other words a "North American Union". A super-state in which U.S. sovereignty is diminished. Even CNN news anchor Lou Dobbs has criticized it saying it's "absolute ignorance... an absolute contravention of our law, of our Constitution, every national value". The only trouble is, who you plan to elect to the presidency could make matters worse... Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain are all members of The Council on Foreign Relations. For those of you who are not familiar with this organization, it's stated goal is to "influence" American public opinion in regards to foreign policy. Many of the largest corporations in the world are also members of this elite organization. The CFR is responsible for releasing a document entitled, "Building a North American Community", which has been cited as the inspiration and road map for the Security and Prosperity Partnership. ALL of these candidates support The Patriot Act, Military Commisions Act, and The Real I.D. Act. The Military Commisions Act allows for U.S. citizens to be labeled as "enemy combatants" and held indefinitely without access to an attorney. It also allows you to be tortured up to the point of "physical and mental trauma". The Real I.D. Act requires that all americans get a national I.D. card outfitted with a Radio Frequency Identification Chip (RFID) by 2009, beginning May 2008. Halliburton subsidiary KBR has been contracted by the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers to build detention centers for "an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S., or to support the rapid development of new programs". One wonders what "new programs" they have in mind... To vote for one of these canidates is to tighten a noose around American sovereignty. To elect one of these canidates is to elect an unaccountable, governing body to "guide" our nation into one world government. If you want a president who'll be a puppet for the elite class, who'll be no different than George W. himself, then vote for one of those above. If you want to live in a fascist, totalitarian super-state, then by all means elect one of those. However... Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who has expressed grave concerns over these recent developments, and the ONLY one determined to stop them! I will vote for a true patriot. LEGALIZE THE CONSTITUTION!!
