'Campbellford' is a community in
Northumberland County,
Ontario,
Canada, in the municipality of
Trent Hills.
Located in
Northumberland County at , it lies approximately midway between
Toronto and
Ottawa. It has approximately 3,800 inhabitants and is on both the
Trent-Severn Waterway and the
Trans Canada Trail. It can be reached from
Highway 401 by going north at the Brighton exit (on Highway 30) or from Highway 7 at the Havelock exit going south (on Highway 30).
Campbellford has a brewery (Church-Key Brewing Company), a chocolate factory, a styrofoam cup factory (Dart Cup), a cheese factory (Empire Cheese), and is home to the Bad Poetry Blues Band.
The town features a large
toonie (the unofficial name for Canada's two-dollar coin). A local artist, Brent Townsend, created the polar bear image seen on it.
Campbellford District High School's jazz band has been nationally acclaimed with several gold awards over the last 10 years. Several musicians have also been selected to national all-star bands. The success of the program can be attributed to Dave Noble, the TV Ontario Teacher of the Year in 1999.
Campbellford's hospital, Campbellford Memorial, is the only hospital located between
Belleville and
Peterborough (which are both approximately 60 kilometers away). It is across the street from Hillside Family Medicine, a teaching practice that is affiliated with the
University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.
The 1.98 km² Ferris
Provincial Park is located on the Trent River a short distance south of Campbellford.
Warkworth Institution, a medium-security prison facility, is located about 8km outside town limits, near the corner of highway 30 and county road 29.
