'California's 47th congressional district' covers the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and some of Fullerton in Orange County. It is one of 53 California Congressional Districts. George W. Bush received 50% of the vote in this district in 2004; John Kerry received 49%.^[1] The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +5.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, a Democrat, is the current representative of the 47th District and has served since 1996.
