'Sea Cadet Summer Training Centre HMCS QUÉBEC' (SCSTC HMCS QUÉBEC) is a
Royal Canadian Sea Cadets summer training centre, more commonly known by its French language name as 'le Centre d'instruction d'été des cadets de la Marine NCSM QUÉBEC' (CIEC NCSM QUÉBEC).
History
The cadet summer training centre was founded in
Farnham in 1976 as SCSTC HMCS QUÉBEC by Commander Émilien Paradis. His dream was to see the creation of a cadet summer training centre for
Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in the province and offering a
Francophone training programme for its members. HMCS QUÉBEC remains the only CSTC for Francophone sea cadets.
CSTSC HMCS QUÉBEC moved in 1981 from Farnham to the
Sainte-Angèle-de-Laval sector of
Bécancour, Québec, on the south shore of the
St. Lawrence River opposite
Trois-Rivières. HMCS QUÉBEC offers the opportunity for young people to rise to challenges with all activities planned and supervised by approximately 100 staff, including officers of the
Cadet Instructor Cadre of the
Canadian Forces, civilian instructors, non-commissioned members of the Canadian Forces, and about 120 senior Staff Cadets.
