'Breinigsville',
Pennsylvania,
USA is located in
Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, several miles west of
Allentown in
Upper Macungie Township. The population of Breinigsville is 3,556.
The town of Breinigsville is located on
Route 222 between
Trexlertown and
Maxatawny. The Route 222 bypass is being built in Breingsville.
Around 1855, the
Allentown Railroad was graded through Breinigsville, but never laid track. However, in the 1860s, the
Catasauqua and Fogelsville Railroad used the grade to build from Trexlertown, on its main line, into Breinigsville, as part of a branch to serve local
limonite (
iron ore) mines. These mines had shut down by the end of
World War I, and the rails through Breinigsville were removed in the 1940s.
Breinigsville is the home of
CyOptics. Founded in 1999, CyOptics designs, develops and markets a full line of InP optical chips and components for integration into access, metro and long-haul communications systems.
CyOptics no longer owns the former
AT&T building, but leases space from the owners of TEK Park
