'Boris Divjak' (born on
October 31,
1972 in
Zagreb,
Croatia) founded the
Bosnia and Herzegovina branch of the non-governmental organisation
Transparency International (TI) in 2000, and as of November 2005 was elected to TI's global Board of Directors.
Divjak is a macroeconomics consultant, with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Reading, UK and the Karl-Franzens
University of Graz as well as a master’s degree in International Studies from the
University of Reading. He has worked with the
World Bank, the
European Commission,
USAID and other bilateral and multilateral donors on their development programmes in the
Balkans.
His area of specialisation is business enabling environment and local economic development. Divjak was particularly active in setting up
Regulatory Impact Analysis mechanisms in
Southeast Europe (SEE) evaluating potential impacts of new business regulation and clarifying cost of
enforcement of the regulation. In his
Transparency International capacity, Divjak analyses
corruption issues in
Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbouring SEE region and remains a key public opinion-shaper. He also worked on implementation of several anti-corruption strategies and tools both in BiH and beyond.
