United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3
km² (0.5
mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 1.96% is water.
Demographics
As of the
census of 2000, there were 894 people, 375 households, and 265 families residing in the village. The
population density was 676.8/km² (1,769.8/mi²). There were 391 housing units at an average density of 296.0/km² (774.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.77%
White, 0.56%
Asian, 0.11% from
other races, and 0.56% from two or more races.
Hispanic or
Latino of any race were 0.22% of the population.
There were 375 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.3% were
married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the village the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $38,971, and the median income for a family was $46,250. Males had a median income of $39,904 versus $19,844 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $17,651. About 1.5% of families and 3.9% of the population were below the
poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 10.4% of those age 65 or over.
