'Blitz' was a
punk/
Oi! band from
New Mills,
Derbyshire,
England.
They had success in the
United Kingdom indie charts in the early 1980s.
Comprised of both
punk and
skinhead members, they were enthusiastically championed by
''Sounds'' magazine writer
Garry Bushell. Their song "Someone's Gonna Die" was covered by
Rancid on the ''
Radio Radio Radio'' EP. Another
Blitz song, "Warriors", was covered by
The Distillers and
Judge. Decades after the original Blitz lineup split,
guitarist/
songwriter Alan "Nidge" Miller recruited new members and performed concerts under the band's name. On February 10, 2007, Miller was struck by a car after running into the freeway while intoxicated in
Austin, Texas.
[1]. He died on impact.
