In the
Church of England, the
Bishop of Ebbsfleet is a
provincial episcopal visitor for the whole
Province of Canterbury, created in 1994 and licensed by the
Archbishop of Canterbury as a "
flying bishop" to visit parishes throughout the province who cannot in good conscience accept the ministry of bishops who have participated in the
ordination of women. The role is named after
Ebbsfleet in
Thanet.
As of 2006, the present Bishop of Ebbsfleet is the Right Reverend
Andrew Burnham,
SSC.
