BIRCHWOOD RAILWAY STATION


'Birchwood railway station' is a railway station serving the Birchwood district to the north east of Warrington, Cheshire, in the north west of England. The station is 21 km (13¼ miles) west of Manchester Piccadilly on the Manchester-Liverpool Line.
The station is operated by TransPennine Express, and is on the southern route of the Liverpool to Manchester Line. It is manned full-time (between 0610 and 2345 Mondays-Saturdays and 0825 and 2320 Sundays). It is across from the main Birchwood shopping complex and is well served by onward transportation to all parts of Birchwood and further afield.

Station Facilities


There is sheltered seating on the Liverpool-bound platform, and a ticket office with seating on the Manchester-bound platform. A footbridge connects the two platforms. There is also a news kiosk open six days a week. Outside the station there is a bus stop and the station is close to the Birchwood shopping mall.

There are generally two local trains per hour in each direction, operated by Northern Rail, between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road.
Towards Manchester, trains call at:
:Glazebrook(1 train/two hours), Irlam (2tph), Flixton (1tph), Chassen Road (1 train/two hours), Urmston (2tph), Humphrey Park (1 train/two hours), Trafford Park (1 train/two hours), Deansgate (2tph), and 'Manchester Oxford Road' (''Some services will carry on to Piccadilly'')
Towards Liverpool, trains call at:
:Padgate (1tph), Warrington Central (2tph), Sankey for Penketh (1tph), Widnes (2tph), Hough Green (2tph), Halewood (1tph), Hunts Cross (1tph), Liverpool South Parkway (2tph), West Allerton (1tph), Mossley Hill (2tph), Edge Hill (1tph) and 'Liverpool Lime Street'
TransPennine Express

TransPennine Express operate an hourly express service in each direction, which continues beyond Manchester towards Leeds and the north east.
Towards the North-East trains call at:

Towards Liverpool trains call at:
:Warrington Central and 'Liverpool Lime Street'

Some peak-hour Central Trains services also stop at this station these are at 0719 and 0821 to Norwich via Manchester and 1757 to Liverpool from Norwich.

Sunday service is 2tph (train per hour)/direction, a Northern Rail, local service operates in each direction and a TransPennine Express, again in each direction.
