At an altitude of 1,750 metres (5,741 ft), Bering offers a majestic view of the Himalayas snow covered peaks with spectacular Himalayan sunrises and sunsets. This is a quiet and little-known place famous for its natural beauty. Bering was once know for its tea estates and the climate is favorable for the growing of tea which some local people cultivate.
The area has a number of Nag (snake) temples of Dhaurinag, Feninag, Kalinag, Bashukinag, Pinglenag, and Harinag. Other tourist spots are Tripura Devi Temple, Cave Temple of Koteshwar, Garaun waterfalls, and Musk Deer Farm at Kotmanya. The Berinag is named after the Nagveni King Benimadhava.^[2]
