BARDYLLIS

'Bardhylli ' (also attested as ''Bardylis,Bardhyllus '' Albanian:Bardhyli) was an Illyrian king who ruled from 385 to 358 BC and founded the Bardhylli Dynasty.
Initially a Dardanian coalman, he claimed the throne of the first Illyrian king, Hylli(Albanian:Ylli;the star)
The area of Illyria that Bardylis commanded was called Taulantia.
He took back all Illyrian land from the Macedonians, defeating four Macedonian kings and was very popular with the Illyrian people when he divided up his spoils.Bardhylli was also respected for his love of justice. Under his reign, the Illyrians nearly succeeded in destroying the kingdom of Macedon, but in 359 BC, Philip of Macedon conquered Illyria.Bardhylli made peace with Philip before dying in 358 BC at the age of 90.
