 | Monster Tree Ohio's Largest/One of largest Eastern US This central Ohio cottonwood tree is one of the largest in the Eastern US. In 2005, it totaled 528 points with a 358' circumference, 136' height, and 135' crown. The world's largest tree is a Sequoia of 1321 points. The average points of all national champion trees is between 200 and 250 points. This Eastern Cottonwood is in good health. Video includes William Allen, famous Ohio and Texas writer, author of Starkweather and other books. Allen's book, Walking Distance, is about Delaware County, Ohio, and the Seymour Preserve. Also shown is the house Bill Allen added to, which is near Seymour Woods State Nature Preserve and Camp Lazarus. The house is located in the historic area first owned by Nathan Carpenter and Avery Powers of Delaware County's first families. Nathan Carpenter and Avery Powers made the first settlement in Delaware County May 1, 1801. It was on the east bank of the Olentangy River, about five miles below what became Delaware, Ohio. Carpenter built the county's first mill around 1804 and the remains of this mill still exist on Chapman Road by the Olentangy River. Allen has discovered the remains of both Carpenter's and Powers' first homes and the graveyards of these pioneer families. The historic George W. Campbell Home, in Delaware Ohio, now the Arts Castle, is also shown. Although there are some great deals and wonderful neighorhoods in the area, the property sold online is usually not a great deal. Dayton's neighborhoods are drastically different from block to block. One block may be great, but 1 short block away it may look like a third world country. Tax appraisals mean nothing due to this phenomenon ... Most homes sold at the online auctions are in bad blocks..vacant and boarded up, nuisance property that the bank didn't even want and couldn't sell...that is why it is being sold at AUCTION!
