BAIJNATH

'Baijnath' is a small Indian town on the banks of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand.
The main attraction of Baijnath is an ancient temple of Shiva. Neighbouring towns are Garur, Bageshwar, and Kausani. It is about 14 kilometers from Kausani. It possesses temples which are said to have been made by the Pandavas. Most of the temples do not have any idols in them. The other attractions there are feeding fishes in the Gomti river with puffed rice and rice flakes. There is also a large stone weighing approximately 90 kgs. This stone can be lifted by nine people putting a finger each under it and simultaneously lifting it. This stone cannot be lifted by a single able bodied man. It is called by the locals as Bheema ball, as Bheema of the pandavas is said to have played with it.
"Bajnath" is also the name of a temple in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is roughly fourteen kilometres from the town of Palampur. It is very famous allover the world
as it is one of twelve jyotirlingas.
