ASHLEY PHAROAH

'Ashley Pharoah' is a British television writer, co-creator of the successful drama series ''Life on Mars'', which began on BBC One in 2006. After studying at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield in the 1980s, Pharoah began his television writing career on the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', on which he worked for three years.
As well as co-creating ''Life on Mars'' and its spin-off ''Ashes to Ashes'', Pharoah has written for ''Hustle'' from the same production company, Kudos Film & Television. He has also written for the popular BBC One drama series ''Casualty'' and ''Silent Witness'', and scripted an adaptation of ''Tom Brown's Schooldays'', starring Stephen Fry, for the ITV1 network in 2005. He also created the long-running ITV series ''Where the Heart Is'', and ''Down to Earth'' for the BBC. Other work includes creating the series ''Wild at Heart'' for Company Pictures and adapting ''Under the Greenwood Tree'' for Ecosse Films.
