ARTS AND HUMANITIES RESEARCH COUNCIL

(Redirected from Arts and Humanities Research Board)
The 'Arts and Humanities Research Council' (AHRC) is a British Research Council that provides government funding for grants to undertake research in the arts and humanities, mainly to universities in the United Kingdom. The AHRC also manages funding for university museums, galleries and other collections on behalf of HEFCE. The head office is in Bristol.
The AHRC was established in April 2005. Previous, the AHRC was the ''Arts and Humanities Research Board'' (AHRB), founded in 1998.
The AHRC has developed numerous programmes for those (at both postgraduate and postdoctoral level) applying for research funds in the UK. The AHRC also partially funds the Arts and Humanities Data Service to act as an electronic archive of digital resources created under its funding streams and Intute: Arts & Humanities to assist the Arts and Humanities research community to discover scholarly online resources.
The current Chairman of the AHRC is Sir Brian Follett, and its Chief Executive is Professor Philip Esler.
