ARTHUR S. WAY

'Arthur S. Way' (1847- ? ) was an English classical scholar and poet, born at Dorking. He was educated at Kingswood School, Bath, and at Queen's College, Melbourne (Australia), where he was afterward fellow. In 1870-76 he was lecturer at Queen's College, Taunton, in 1876-81 vice master of Kingswood School, Bath, and from 1882 to 1892 head master of Wesley College, Melbourne, Australia. He published notable verse translations of the ''Odyssey'', the ''Iliad'', Euripides, the ''Epodes'' of Horace, Æschylus, Sophocles, Vergil's ''Georgics'', the ''Nibelungenlied'', the ''Chanson de Roland'', Theocritus, Bion, and Moschus.
