David Bowie - A New Career In A New Town
Following the release of the cocaine-fuelled Station to Station, Bowie began to rekindle his interest in art. As a recovering cocaine addict, (although he never fully dropped the habit and continued to use sporadically during recording and mixing), his songwriting on Low tended to deal with difficult issues; many of the songs concern lethargy, depression, estrangement, or self-destructive behavior. Producer Tony Visconti contended that the title was partly a reference to Bowie's "low" moods during the album's writing and recording. The format of the album was unusual for its time: side one contained short, direct song-fragments; side two comprised longer, mostly instrumental tracks. On these tracks help was lent by ex-Roxy Music keyboardist and conceptualist Brian Eno, who brought along his EMS 'suitcase' synthesiser (Bowie was later given this exact synthesiser as a birthday present after a friend obtained it in an auction).Often incorrectly given credit as Low's producer,Eno was responisible for a good deal of the direction and composition of the second side of the album and actually wrote the theme and instrumentation for "Warszawa" while Bowie was in Paris attending court hearings against his former manager. Eno in turn was helped by producer Tony Visconti's four-year-old son who sat next to Eno playing A, B, C in a constant loop at the studio piano. This phrase became the "Warszawa" theme. On Bowie's return Eno played him the work which impressed Bowie who then quickly composed the made-up, vaguely eastern European sounding lyrics. Although the music was influenced by German bands such as Kraftwerk and Neu!,Low has been acclaimed for its originality and is considered ahead of its time, not least for its cavernous treated drum sound created by producer Visconti using an Eventide Harmoniser. On the release of Low, Visconti received phone calls from other producers asking how he had made this unique sound, but would not give up the information, instead asking each producer how they thought it had been done. The influence of Low spans many genres that would come to prominence in following years such as Post-punk, New Wave and Industrial. Not only was it an influence on these styles, but the fact that an artist of Bowie's prominence had experimented with these styles made other proponents of the genres more respectable. Trent Reznor would later claim Low to be one of his influences while creating The Downward Spiral. As late as 2000, Radiohead looked to be attempting a similar concept and sound with their album Kid A.
Tavel France-Antibes, Cannes (Picasso Museum)
Antibes is a resort town of southeastern France, located between Cannes and Nice. Antibes is a busy town that is favorite with holiday makers. There is much beauty to be seen in the old town with its fortifications along the coast, tiny lanes lined with lovely shops selling all sorts of curios, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Pablo Picasso came to town in 1946 and was invited to stay in the castle. He stayed for six months, painting and drawing many pieces of art as well as crafting ceramics and tapestries. When he departed, he left all his works here, and the castle officially became the Picasso Museum. (more)
ABBA - DANCING QUEEN 【STEREO】
Dear,Mr.Ola Brunkert. I thank you for your great drums. I love your technique. forever. MADRID, Spain (AP) -- A former drummer for the Swedish pop band ABBA was found dead with cuts to his neck in the garden of his house on the Spanish island of Mallorca. Police said Monday an autopsy showed it was an accident. A neighbor found the body of 62-year-old Ola Brunkert on Sunday evening at his house in a coastal area outside the eastern town of Arta, a Civil Guard spokesman told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. He said an autopsy was carried out and confirmed initial investigations. "It was an accident," he said. The spokesman said Brunkert hit his head against a glass door in his dining room, shattering the glass and cutting himself in the neck. He managed to wrap a towel around his neck and left the house to seek help, but collapsed in the garden. Brunkert lived in the coastal apartment complex of Betlem in the municipality of Arta, in the eastern part of Mallorca. Brunkert had lived in Arta for around 20 years. His wife, Inger. died less than a year ago, an Arta municipal official told the AP. She spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to discuss the case. ABBA band member Benny Anderson told Swedish daily Expressen he was sad to hear of the drummer's death. "It is tragic," he said. Band member Bjorn Ulvaeus added that Brunkert had been "one of the best." "I remember him as a good friend when we worked together in the mid-1970s. He was a very creative musician who contributed a lot when we toured together and worked in the studio," Ulvaeus told Expressen. According to ABBA's official Web site, Brunkert and bass player Rutger Gunnarsson were the only musicians to appear on all ABBA albums. Brunkert first played with ABBA on the group's first single, "People Need Love," and toured with the band in 1977, 1979 and 1980. He had been a jazz drummer and a member of the blues band Slim's Blues Gang, before joining pop group Science Poption in the mid-1960s. ABBA, with the four regular members Agnetha Faltskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Ulvaeus and Andersson, was one of the world's most successful bands, with album sales of more than 370 million. The group has not performed together since 1982, but continues to sell nearly 3 million records a year.

Eccentre - The Place of Creative Encounter
The Centre would be located on one of the bastions of Petrovaradin fortress, in its southern part. In the very neighborhood of the site are buildings of the Academy of arts and the huge variety of artists' studios. Lying on the mount, this site provides a wide view of Fruška Gora, the river Danube and the rest of the Fortress. The Fortress itself is designed to accomplish the needs of 18th century's Austrian army. Today, it is a historical and cultural monument and it has lost its original purpose. The existence of cultural centre inside the Fortress would enable a transformation of passive cultural monument into the place of active cultural life; an act like this needs a new architecture. The Eccentre would represent a sort of cultural institution dislocated from the centre of the town. The main reason for making this kind of space is a wish to encourage common people to participate in arts. This kind of participation needs a personal decision and one's will -- a wish for the Rise (both physical and symbolic). The Eccentre should provide a space for many different kinds of artistic expression. Moreover, a centre like this would provide an inspiring atmosphere for revealing talents through variety of workshops. Finally, the Eccentre would make a possibility for the living dialogue between artistic creation and its consumer, what should provide a possibility for the art to exit the esoteric hermeticism and make a transition from the art as a specialty of the chosen ones into the art as a food for a soul of every individual.
