'Area code 321' is the area code serving Brevard County, Florida. It has been in use since November 1, 1999, and was assigned to the area (after a successful petition drive) due to the Space Coast's impact on the county (the code, if said properly – 3, 2, 1 – resembles the countdown which launches the many spacecraft from Cape Canaveral). Part of 321 also overlays part of area code 407 toward Orlando.
This is currently the only area code in North America that is both the overlay of one established area code, but also the primary area code of another.
