'Antonio Segni' (

1972) was an Italian politician who was
President of the Italian Republic from 1962 to 1964.
Born in
Sassari,
Sardinia, he was twice
Prime Minister of Italy (1955-1957, 1959-1960). Subsequently he was elected President of the Italian Republic on
May 6,
1962 (854 to 443 votes) and retired from office on
December 6,
1964 after serious paralysis. He was also a professor of law at University of Sassari.
Segni he was accused during his presidential term of having tried to organize a coup d'état along with General
Giovanni De Lorenzo
He is the father of
Mario Segni, better know as Mariotto.
