ANTOINE AUGUELLE

'Antoine Auguelle' (also referred to as Anthony Auguel and surnamed the Picard du Gay) born at Amiens in Picardy, was a 17th century French explorer. Auguelle and Michel Aco were companions of Father Louis Hennepin during his exploration of North America, and were briefly captured with him by the Mille Lac Dakota Indians.

In Marquette Heights, Illinois, residents who live on Gay Road, named after Picard du Gay, successfully petitioned to rename their street Hennepin Road in January of 2005.
