'Animal Rescue' is a TV show hosted and produced by Alex Paen. The show is about people trying to save animals from danger. Animal control officers try to assist animals in unsafe environments and respond other animal related emergencies. It is a six-time Daytime Emmy nominated show.
Animal Rescue also refers to animal control shelters, humane societies, private rescue groups and individuals that help unwanted animals find new homes. Many animals are bought from breeders, or received as gifts, and then abandoned to these groups or individuals, who help place the animals so that they do not need the be euthanized. Because of the enormous pet overpopulation problem, more and more of these groups are required to or voluntarily spay and neuter the pets before they go home to their new families. A list of such groups follows.
