'Anhidrosis' means lack of
sweating. It is also known by a number of other names including 'Adiaphoresis'
[1][2][3][4], 'Ischidrosis'
[5], 'Hypohidrosis', 'Oligidria', 'Oligohidrosis' and 'Sweating deficiency'.
Causes
It may be caused by underactivity of the
sympathetic nervous system. Eccrine sweat glands are
innervated via
muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Hence antimuscarinic
drugs cause anhidrosis.
