RIKICHI ANDO

'Rikichi Ando' (安藤利吉, ''Ando Rikichi'') (1884-1946) was a Japanese general.
He commanded the Japanese 21st Army in China from 1938 to February 9 1940. Then as commander of the Japanese Southern China Area Army he made an independent move on French Indochina[1].
In 1944/5, he was the Japanese Governor-General of Taiwan. He had commanded the Taiwan Army from November 1941[2]. His command of the Tenth Area Army ceased in September 1945[3]. He formally surrendered Taiwan to Chinese control under Chen Yi on 25 October 1945.[4]
He died by suicide while in prison in China.
