'Andeca' was the
Suevi king of
Galicia (
584-
585) who assassinated
Eboric and took
Miro's widow (Eboric's mother), Siseguntia, as a wife. He was proclaimed king by the insurrectionist nobility which wanted to wrest control of their state from the
Visigoths with whom
Miro, Euric's father, had made peace treaties. The Visigothic king
Leovigild used this as an excuse to intervene once more in Suevi affairs. Leovigild deposed of Andeca and sent him to a monastery. At this moment, a pretender,
Malaric, arose, but had no real power; the Suevi were subsumed within the Visigothic nation.
