In the episode My Favorite Mistake, Christina decides to amputate the gentleman's foot -- but she didn't consider another alternative (hyperbaric oxygen treatment). Please be careful of people who say hyperbaric oxygen is a cure-all -- because it's not (more rigorous research is needed). But I wanted to share this information as a possible consideration.  | Bulldog Tail Amputation Tail problems aren't uncommon to bulldogs, many people knows the problem as "tail pocket", which is an extreme case of skin fold dermatitis. Many bulldog owners see their pet scooting persistently, having an "odor" and some cases blood or some discharge from the area. The worst cases form fistulas that can jeopardize the life of the patient. After wipes, flushes, ointment, medications don't seem to work and your vet might recommend to amputate the tail. The procedure from anesthesia to the technique is different than with other dogs since the tail is imbedded in the perianal area. If you have any questions regarding the health of your pet consult your veterinarian. |
