'Allendale' is a town in
Allendale County,
South Carolina,
United States. The population was 4,052 at the 2000 census. It is the
county seat of
Allendale County.

Demographics
As of the
census of 2000, there were 4,052 people, 1,542 households, and 997 families residing in the town. The
population density was 472.7/km² (1,225.2/mi²). There were 1,763 housing units at an average density of 205.6/km² (533.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 18.19%

Latino of any race were 2.25% of the population.
There were 1,542 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 29.2% were
married couples living together, 31.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.34.
In the town the population was spread out with 32.6% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 73.7 males.
