Poison: Femme Fatale
One of my favourite features of Classic Hollywood, is the era of film noir, not because of the sharp script, the dashing leading man or the daunting film score- but because of the classy femme fatales that manipulate the guy. We all adore the femme fatales- whether they're blonde, redhead or brunette- they entertain us everytime. Their entrance would outshine the rest of the film. Whoc an forget Lana Turner in Postman or Rita Hayworth in Gilda. There are many femme fatales, but perhaps the five main ladies that define the phrase are: Ava Gardner in THE KILLERS Lana Turner in THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE Rita Hayworth in GILDA Barbara Stanwyck in DOUBLE INDEMNITY Gene Tierney in LAURA Yes these 5 are the ultimate femme fatales who set the benchmark so high- that nobody has beaten them since. Yes ofcourse there were many, Mary Astor was brillaint in THE MALTESE FALCON, but these five were the best. So here's my tribute, with a great song POISON by ALICE COOPER. If you've got a problem with the song, then dont bother commenting, the song is about an irresistible woman who is dangerous. Sounds likea femme fatale to me- I'm sure Glenn Ford, John Garfield, Fred MacMurray, Dana Andrews and Burt Lancaster would agree. Yes there clips from LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN another film Gene Tierney played the femme fatale to perfection in, I used the clips because she looks so evil/ beautiful, it was jsut perfect for the video. Hope you enjoy
