'Ali Sadikin' (born
7 July 1927 in
Sumedang,
West Java) is an
Indonesian
politician. He served as the
governor of
Jakarta, the country's capital, from 1966 to 1977. He is credited with rehabilitating public services, and also cleared out slum dwellers, banned rickshaws, and street pedlars.
