AIGLE AZUR


'Aigle Azur' (Transports Aeriens) is an airline based in Tremblay-en-France, Paris, France. It operates domestic scheduled passenger services and international services to Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia in North Africa as well as Portugal and Italy. It also operates charter, cargo and wet lease services. Its main bases are Orly Airport and Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Paris[1].

History


The airline traces its history to April 1946, when it was established by Sylvain Floirat as one of the first independent post-war airlines. The airline was reformed and started operations in 1970 as Lucas Aviation and later known as Lucas Aigle Azur, operating regional scheduled services, before being renamed. In May 2001 it was acquired by the Groupe GOFAST. It is replacing its Boeing 737s with Airbus aircraft. In May 2006 it was reportedly considering taking over the ailing Portuguese carrier Hifly. It has 450 employees (May 2007).
