![]() | Connections of Empathy with the Oligarchy I had been thinking about the star in this video while doing yoga in my friend's medicine wheel in one of the most lovely spots around Unionville, PA, the playground of horse people and those who benefit from the power and leisure our system gives to the few. Yet the majority often do not know these people, understand their concerns and what they work at and have a passion for. This piece is a companion to the one I did about with Robin Gibson and Agni Hotra (burning cow dung mindfully as a ritual to get in balance with nature). For those who saw it you might have picked up that Robin (Senator's daughter now a teamster) was talking about Paul Mellon, the wealthy man who said he admired his wife greatly because she had a passion for gardening...and he, a person with everything, had a passion for nothing. We need to understand our society where people with power may lack passion while those seemingly without power and in the majority burning with a cause, often lack sympathy or knowledge about the realities of wealth so that they can gain the ability to connect with the means they need to achieve their dream. Once our society is connected, we can empathize with each path chosen and each of us in our own situation can find the nobility to do the right thing in every moment. This, I feel, is the only way we may overcome the precipice of our technological ability to destroy all of mankind and instead emerge into a new reality. If I had a chance, I feel, Mrs Nancy Hannum, a woman with a passion for the fox-hunt, decended from Avrell Harriman's brother, would have the ability and guts (nobility) to understand, once properly told, how to deal with 9/11 truth as well as International Terrorism. Part of that chance depends on the support I get from my viewers, for profound connection takes the ability of the entire society and patience to understand the other. Listening is a noble art...enjoy this piece, an example of easy focus! |

![]() | MAA DURGA NAVRATRI AARTI WITH MY FAMILY This festival symbolises health and prosperity, and is celebrated in a very traditional way. People perform yagna (sacrifice offered in order to procure purification through fire) or havana (symbolic ceremony involving the purifying aspects of fire). During both the ceremonies, ghee (clarified butter), paayas or kheer (rice cooked in condensed milk) and sesame seeds are poured into the holy flames to the chanting of mantras (holy verses). Each cycle of oblation culminates with the priest summoning Swaha, the consort of Agni, or fire. Some believers fast (vrat) throughout the nine days, whilst others settle for a daylong fast. Fasting is considered to be one of the most popular means of self-discipline and spiritual development. On the fifth day, known as Lalitha Panchami, it is customary to gather the books in the house and place them before a sacred lamp in order to seek the Goddess Saraswati's blessings. Artisans also lay their tools at the feet of the Goddess for a more prosperous trade. |
![]() | 12 My Indian Heroes Mind Body Expert Dr Deepak Chopra http://www.chopra.com/ In Modern times Dr Deepak Chopra has revived Ayurveda in the English speaking world and Swami Ramdev in India and the Indian Diaspora. According to ayurveda, the five fundamental elements that make up the universe--space (akasha), air (vayu), fire (agni), water (apu) and earth (prithvi)--also make up the human physiology. How do these elements work within us? Looking at the elements from the point of view of what they do in the physiology, rather than what they are, ayurveda describes three biological humors or psychophysiological energies called doshas. There are three doshas, called Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and each is mainly a combination of two elements. Vata dosha is made up of space and air. Pitta dosha is a combination of fire and water. Kapha dosha is made up of water and earth. Each of these doshas is further divided into five sub-doshas. Together, the doshas orchestrate all the activities that occur within us. The combination of the three doshas that you inherit at conception is called your prakriti or original constitution in ayurveda. While it is not unheard of for people to have nearly equal proportions of the three doshas or just one very predominant dosha as their prakriti, most people have two doshas that are more or less equally dominant, with the remaining one less dominant. Thus, there are ten classic types of prakriti possible--Vata-Pitta-Kapha, Vata (where Vata is much more dominant than either of the two other doshas, Pitta, Kapha, Vata-Pitta (where Vata and Pitta are the two major doshas with Vata being slightly more dominant than Pitta), Pitta-Vata (where again Vata and Pitta are the two major doshas, but Pitta is slightly more dominant than Vata), Vata-Kapha, Kapha-Vata, Pitta-Kapha and Kapha-Pitta. Of course, each of us has a unique doshic thumbprint, and an ayurvedic healer performs an ayurvedic pulse assessment to discover that unique doshic make-up and the exact nature of imbalances in order to recommend a very individual program for restoring balance. For good health and well-being to be maintained, the three doshas within you need to be in balance. That does not mean they need to be equal, unless you were born with equal doshas; it means that you need to maintain your original doshic make-up or prakriti through life as much as possible to maintain good health. Unfortunately, factors such as the dietary choices you make, the lifestyle you lead, the climate where you live, levels of environmental pollution, the work you do, the nature of your relationships with people and even just the passage of time can cause one of more of the doshas in your prakriti to increase or decrease from its original level in your constitution, creating vikriti or imbalance. If this imbalance is not corrected, you eventually lose your good health. That's why restoring balance is the central theme of the ayurvedic approach to health. While it is ideal to follow a personal program of balance laid out by an ayurvedic healer after an ayurvedic pulse assessment and a question-answer session designed to discover your precise needs for balance at a given time, a well-designed questionnaire can help you assess for yourself if you need to balance one or more doshas, and diet and lifestyle tips and herbal formulas can help maintain or restore balance. I need stylish points, orbs and keep the fight as safe as possible. Spiral guard ftw. =/ The Spiral/KA scheme might be a bit too weird for some people, but with Trickster's added mobility, it works out fairly well. Since I'm not equipping Nevan for the Enigmas, gun switching helps with at least downing them. |
![]() | Happy Family in Druskininkai Happy Family in Druskininkai, Lithuania. Standing on the bank watching the swift, swirling Nemunas River, I thought of Siddhartha. Reading about the Lithuanian language on my return, I learned it was the most conservative living Indo-European language. Lithuanian and Sanskrit share a common root. Having needed to light a cigar in both languages, I liked the similarity of ugnis and agni. An old Bollywood film finally inspired me to make this video. Amrinder Gill popped into my head for the music. It's an homage to a great town, a fun water park, a fascinating restaurant, and all of the above. Check out the website of the water park, Aqua Meduna. The Alka Restaurant is worth finding! It's amazing how the owner crafted the place -- nice people & good food there, too! |
