Biography
2002-2005
Afterthought originally formed in 2002 when ex-vocalist and bassist Tim King, guitarist Stephen Myerscough and drummer Mark Kramer began playing together after being childhood and neighbourhood friends. The band was orginally named ''Something Chronic'' by Mark who claims it just popped into his head one afternoon. This name stuck for a few gigs but didn't really epitomize what the band was really about. It was then Mark again who had ''Back to Reality'' as a back up name. Under this name, the 3 piece began to work on their cover material and perfect their skills. However, the band were unfortunately unable to find that spark needed to make the big time break. After two and a half years of no real luck, the band decided to make a change.
2005- Mid 2007
In 2005, after a heavy group decision, Tim decided to step down as lead-vocalist as the band felt they needed a proper front man to do the job. Singer Huw Fitzpatrick, a co-worker of Tim's at the time, was asked to jam and play a few minor shows around East Brisbane with the band. In late '05, early '06 Huw created the band name ''Shades of Thought'' and wrote their first single Beware the China Dolls and from there the band's original material started to flow. In 2006 the band decided to record demo's in Tim's bedroom of all their tracks to put up on their Myspace website. They decided to record the new songs under the new name ''Afterthought'', an adaption of ''Shades of Thought'', and to this day they all state that it has no real meaning. The band's range of grunge meets melodic rock swept the wider bay region and sent the band into a chaotic spirl of touring. Within a few months they had grabbed up enough shows and loyal fans to call themselves a real power force within South-East Brisbane. To cope with their new schedule the band decided to include a 5th band member to the quartet. Adrian joined the band in late '06 and immediately started to have a profound affect on the band's musical horizons.
Late 2007
However, due to distance and communication problems, the band decided that Adrian was not the successful 5th member they were looking for. The band have still not currently found a 5th member but state that they are definitely on the lookout. In late-2007 the band will hit the studios to self-produce and self-release their first EP ''Beware the China Dolls''.
