'Adam Mayers' is a journalist with the ''Toronto Star'', and also the senior editor of the newspaper's website.
A sailing enthusiast, he has written two books on the subject of ocean racing. His first book ''Sea of Dreams'' was an account of the 2002 Around Alone race. His second book, ''Beyond Endurance'', is an account of the ill-fated 1979 Fastnet race, in which the 300 or more yachts involved encountered a massive and deadly storm. The book focuses on the Canadian entries in the race.
